Paris, 12 June 2014. CEDEC, the European Federation of Local and Regional Energy Companies, has a new President. At its General Assembly in Paris, Rudi Oss, the President of Dolomiti Energia (Italy), was elected unanimously by the delegates.
Mr Oss will be supported by four Vice-Presidents, Luc Hujoel, CEO of Sibelga (Belgium), André Jurjus, General Director of Netbeheer Nederland (the Netherlands), Akhobi Sitou, General Director of Seolis (France), and former CEDEC President, Bernd Wilmert, CEO of Stadtwerke Bochum (Germany).
With Rudi Oss, CEDEC has a new president who has years of operational experience in leading an integrated multi-utlity company in Trento, Northern Italy. Besides energy production, supply and distribution of electricity, gas and heat, Dolomiti Energia offers waste, water and telecommunication services.
In his acceptance speech, Rudi Oss thanked Bernd Wilmert for his achievements as CEDEC President. He stressed that during Wilmert’s Presidency, CEDEC was able to grow both in terms of members and activities, which led to greater visibility and influence of the views of local and regional energy companies in European policy-making.
With regard to the resolution for his presidency, Oss expressed his personal motivation for local and regional energy companies to speak with one voice in defining Europe’s energy policy. “The local aspect of our companies and their contribution to life in Europe’s cities and regions, in making our energy system more sustainable, mitigating external security of supply issues and strengthening local economies, has never been more important than today. Being close to the citizens and the customers in our day-to-day work, we find ourselves perfectly placed to lead them through this energy transition”, Oss finished his speech.
